1. I cannot make my payment on time this month. What can I do to avoid a warrant block?
You may either email the court at clerk@sylvaniacourt.com or come in person BEFORE your payment is due to request an extension.
2. I forgot about my payment and received a letter stating I have a warrant block. What do I do now?
In order to release a warrant block, you need to pay a third of your total balance online at www.sylvaniacourt.com, or in person. You then need to sign a new payment agreement. If you cannot make it to the courthouse, the new agreement can be sent to you via fax or email request to clerk@sylvaniacourt.com. You must be able to scan the new agreement and email it back to us after signing. Please note: If you do not pay by the date listed on the letter, your case will be sent to collection and a 30% collection fee will be added to your balance.
3. My case is in collection. I would like to get the block released and get on a new payment agreement. What do I need to do?
You will need to pay a third of the total balance either online or in person. If you make the payment online, email clerk@sylvaniacourt.com and ask the clerk to send a new payment agreement to sign. You must be able to return the payment agreement via fax or email after you sign it. If you cannot, come into the court to pay and you can sign the new payment agreement at the counter.
4. I received a late letter. What does this mean?
If you received a letter indicating a $10.00 fee was added to your account this means that you missed a payment after paying on time for at least four months. No block was added, but you must pay by the next due date in order to avoid one.
5. What does it mean if I have a warrant block? Is my license suspended? Can I get arrested?
A registration block is not a license suspension or a traditional warrant. The block prevents you from registering a vehicle or renewing your license. However, if you do not get the block released before your license is due for renewal it could result in a suspension due to your inability to renew. It could also lead to additional charges if you cannot register or renew your plates.
For additional information, email clerk@sylvaniacourt.com. Please note: all requests for extensions or block releases must be in writing. You cannot receive a payment extension via telephone.
